Know Them? Police Seek Newark Candy Shop Burglars

Authorities in Newark are seeking the public's help identifying three men who they say burglarized a Newark candy shop.

Hats, gloves, socks, lottery tickets and $1,000 in cash were stolen from J's Mount Vernon Sweet Shop on Mount Vernon place overnight Sunday to Monday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.

Police found burglary tools inside the shop and an area where a pad lock had been cut, Ambrose said.

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about these suspects to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
